Maori Bay, Muriwai, New Zealand

Earlier in the year, my husband and I went to Maori Bay for our wedding anniversary. The day we went out was not particularly sunny, but quite overcast. We both took turns playing with the camera.

During the breeding season these outcrops are full of gannets.

Inside the cave underneath the gannet colony.

My husband took this photo of the starfish, perhaps gazing at itself as Narcissus once did?

    • We thought it was pretty neat too. It was difficult to photograph well inside the cave… too much flash not nice, too little, too dark etc. It’s tricky business photographing inside caves.
